New members are always welcome to participate in or just observe a rehearsal. Generally the Ypsilanti Community Choir rehearses on Thursday evenings at 7:30 p.m. in the lower level of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 201 North River Street in Ypsilanti [Get Directions].

The Ypsilanti Community Choir is open without audition to all adult singers, and more voices are always welcome. The ability to read music is useful but not a requirement. Personnel usually hovers around the 40-member mark, so soloist abilities or aspirations are certainly not required. But if solo work is what you love, there will be plenty of opportunities for you to shine, as soloists for each concert are chosen from within the group. Choir rehearsals are informal and are intended to be social, as well as musical, experiences. Because all members are volunteers, it is understood that there may be occasional personal conflicts which will prevent a member from attending every rehearsal; but consistent attendance is requested as a courtesy to both the director and the other member of the group. The rehearsal page on this website contains the most current rehearsal and concert schedule. Choir members are encouraged to visit it frequently so any potential schedule conflicts can be addressed as soon in advance as possible. |
